Wall Piece
For the Wall Piece project, we were given the freedom to create a wall piece of our choice, incorporating materials beyond just clay. I decided to craft a mirror, utilizing studio clay to roll out an extremely thin slab, which I then attached to a doughnut-shaped circle of clay.
As I was preparing to place it in the kiln, a section of the piece broke. Rather than seeing this as a setback, I embraced the imperfection. Inspired by the beauty of geodes, which reveal stunning crystals when cracked open, I decided to enhance the broken section by adding acrylic crystals. This unexpected turn of events transformed my project, giving it a unique character and depth.
Finally, I glued the mirror to the back and titled my project "Beauty in My Imperfections," celebrating the unforeseen beauty that emerged from the flaw.
